1. Diagnoses that can contribute to acute or chronic cough.

Acute: URI, PE, CHF, pneumonia

Chronic: smokers - (COPD, bronchogenic carcinoma)
          nonsmokers - (postnasal drip, asthma, GERD, ACE inhibitors)
