Chronic Bronchitis, Emphysema, and Airway Obstruction




1. Distinguish emphysema from chronic bronchitis.





Emphysema = permanent and destructive enlargement of sirspace distal to termnial bronchioles, without fibrosis and with loss of normal architecture

Chronic Bronchitis = cough productive of sputum not attributable to other causes - occurring at least 3 months over 2 consecutive years
