The practice aims to triage referrals and respond to appointment requests within one week. During busy periods, this may take a little longer.

Clinical scope
Referral is worth considering when you would like a specialist opinion to confirm or shape the plan, or when a presentation has become complex.
Common reasons for referral include:
Acceptance depends on clinical fit, the information available and practice capacity. Sending a referral does not confirm acceptance or an appointment.
Assessment is available for patients receiving inpatient or outpatient care. Telehealth by video is available for patients in regional Victoria when Dr Hadinata agrees it is clinically appropriate. Interstate care is less suitable because legislation and requirements differ between states and territories; requests are considered case by case.
Regional and interstate appointmentsDriving, occupational and other formal assessments are quoted individually once the request has been reviewed. Independent medicolegal work is a separate pathway from clinical treatment.
Driving and occupational assessmentsDepending on the patient's preference and yours, Dr Hadinata can see the patient once and hand care back to you, with review as needed, or provide longer-term specialist care alongside General Practice.
Beyond identifying and contact details for the patient and the referring practitioner, the practice needs only the reason for referral and the questions you would like addressed. Other details help if they are readily available: the pattern and duration of the concern, current medicines and allergies, relevant health conditions, previous treatment and response, communication or accessibility needs, and relevant results. Please do not delay a referral for them.
Please flag any current withdrawal, overdose, self-harm, safeguarding or other safety concern clearly. A routine referral is not suitable when a patient needs urgent assessment or treatment.

All appointments and services are privately billed. The fee for an initial appointment is quoted when it is booked. As a guide, a standard initial clinical appointment or a longer review appointment is A$660, and a standard review appointment is A$330. Driving, occupational and other formal assessments and all medicolegal work are strictly by quote, because fees depend on complexity.
A Medicare rebate may be available for an eligible consultation with a valid referral. Private health insurance is needed only for an inpatient admission. The standard clinical letter to you is included in the consultation fee.
If a patient cannot access private care, a publicly funded Addiction Medicine service may be appropriate; General Practice remains central to ongoing care in either setting. In Victoria, DirectLine offers free, confidential alcohol and other drug information, counselling and referral, 24 hours a day, on 1800 888 236.
Full fee terms for patients: deposit, insurance, WorkCover and rebates
